We have made a side trip into Canada to visit Waterton Park, the Canadian side or Glacier Park. Bears were all around, again as last year waling right trough camp. They paid no attention to us.

On a bike ride we had to share the road with this guy. We he was munching on the shoulder of the road. We crossed to the other side to get buy. An elk this big deserves respect.

back in Montana we found the Madison River just outside of Bozeman, a great place to float. The weather was warm and we joined many floaters on a lazy drift down the river. On a steep rocky bank we came close to a pair of bald eagles watching us a couple of hundred feet above the river. An interesting, and long, encounter, usually when we see eagles the are soaring high above or flying off.

Montana does have big sky.

We moved on for a short visit to Yellowstone. Short because it's still too frantic. We'll come back in a couple of weeks when the crowds have settled. Meanwhile we'll spend some time in Teton. In Yellowstone we had moved up to 8000 feet and knew it would be colder at night. We tried to see who could guess the low temperature. Esten guessed 37 degrees, I chose 38. If it got to 37 she wins , if it stays 38 I win. In the morning we laughed, the low was 37.5, a tie.
More great photos! They are beckoning me to visit, or at least they were until you mentioned the temperature. Brrrr.
ReplyDeleteWow! You were really close to that fraternal brotherhood guy - nice rack!
The bears have been in the news a lot, stay safe.
