You could use a lot of superlatives to describe the skyline here, starting with dramatic and beautiful. We're making good use of the well developed network of hiking trails.
Some through alpine meadows
. Our favorite here crosses a pass at tree line to a view of Hidden Lake.
This is a popular trail and we have plenty of company, including marmot, mountain goat, and bighorn sheep.
Water cascades out of the snow fields above
A nice sound by the way.

The meadows are full of heather.
Life in camp is calm, although two nights ago we were shaken by a fast moving thunderstorm. Wind, rain, lightening and thunderclaps, then in a half hour it was over and back to peace.
A few days ago we had a nice visit with a young golden eagle. We were in the kayak on a lake. He landed in a tree by the lake. We were able to drift slowly until we were right under him, and spent a half hour watching him stretch his wings and stare back at us.
We're impressed with our ability to find Idaho, and Montana. Next we'll try Canada, it should be to the north.
Hmmm, Canada. That might be a tougher one to find than Idaho.
ReplyDeleteMore great photos. I'm glad you explained that one was a marmot because I was thinking Grizzly. And the goat photo is amazing!
Excellent job with the photos all around. I can never even begin to show the grandeur of the scenery and you managed quite well.
It would be fun to experience a thunderstorm again, maybe some day...
