Camped next to the Colorado River near Moab we have a good view of the moonrise with the sun washing the canyon walls to shades of orange.

We drive up into the La Sal Mountains and enjoy the fall color.

On the way back into the valley we pass through Castle Valley with it's impressive monuments.

An overnight thunderstorm turns the river from light brown to a deep chocolate, a reminder of how much earth this river is moving.

Arches is just north and we make a day of hiking.

Landscape arch looks so improbable. A large section near one end came down a couple of years ago. Each time we see it we think it may be the last.

The walk down Park Avenue Wash reminds us that Arches is a grand piece of real estate even without the arches.

A small mechanical problem will keep us near the Grand Canyon for an extra few days while we wait for a part for our fridge. Not a bad place to be stuck. Once the fridge is fixed we'll start drifting back north. We plan to leave the trailer near Tacoma over the winter.
Thanks for the wonderful photos. You are inspiring me to follow in your footsteps.
